We are absolutely thrilled to announce that after almost two years of development, our new mobile app is now available for Android users. We expect to launch the app for iPhone soon (iPhone users are welcome to join our current beta release).
This is new territory for us: A single Grokio Communities app you can use to access Grommr, Feabie, Chasabl and Ferzu. While the communities themselves haven't been combined and are still independent from each other, the new app allows you to easily switch between them.
This new app is an exciting new development for our communities and we can’t wait to see where we go.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this new app combining my community with others?
No, all of our communities will remain entirely independent of each other--requiring separate logins in order to access them. All that’s changing is how we present them to our app users. If you’re a Feabie member, for example, your profile and content will continue to only be visible to other Feabie members.
What’s happening to all my data and messages?
Nothing. Whether you’re currently using one of the old apps or one of our websites, all your messages, profile info and posts will appear on the new app, right where you left them!
What’s in the new app? Why should I switch to it?
The new Grokio Communities app is faster, sleeker and more feature-packed than our old apps. Dark mode, private albums, and location-based search are just a few of the cool new features you’ll find! You can see a full list of new features here.
I only use one of Grokio’s communities, will I have to select mine every time I log in?
Nope! We’ve designed our app to automatically open to the most recent community you accessed--which means if you’re a member of only one community, you won’t need to continually re-select your home community.
I’m a member of more than one Grokio community, how can I switch between them?
Switching between different Grokio Communities is simple and fast from the Grokio Communities home screen. If you want to switch communities once you’re already in one, just navigate to your “feeds” tab and click on the logo at the top--that will take you right back to the Grokio Communities home screen.
Why can’t I keep using the old app?
Maintaining our old app would require significant resources and investments in fixes. Now that we have a new app that is faster, sleeker and more feature-packed than the old app, it simply doesn’t make sense to maintain both.
There weren’t ads in beta, why are there ads now?
Ads were a feature of all our previous apps and will continue to be a feature of the new app for free members. To get rid of all ads in the app, members can upgrade to premium in the app or on the website at any time.
What is Grokio? Did my community get sold?
Grokio is the name of the company that has run Grommr, Feabie, Chasabl and Ferzu since launch. If you’ve ever purchased premium from us, you may have noticed our name before. Nothing has changed ownership, we’re just using the Grokio brand name as an umbrella for all the awesome communities we’ve built and any communities to come.
Why combine all the communities into one app?
A little over a year ago, Apple decided to change their policies so that if two or more apps used the same or very similar code, they needed to be combined into a single app. Once we knew that requirement, we knew we needed to code an incredible app from scratch--one that serves every community, allows each community to remain independent, and ensures our members can access their communities easily. We’re incredibly proud of the end result: The Grokio Communities app.

If you have feedback about the new app or need help with any technical problems, submit them to us from the app itself: tap "Me" in the lower right corner, then tap "Report a Problem".
